I made it!!

I’ve gotta say…this totally made my Monday!! :)

After 58 weeks, I have finally reached my WW goal! I lost an average of 1.28 lbs per week. I am down 74.5 lbs since starting WW on May 1, 2011. I’m down 101 lbs since giving birth to Margaret a month before that. I can finally wear all of my old “skinny” clothes in my closet. I finally cleared all of the clothes that are too big out of my closet. The packrat in me can’t get rid of them just yet. They are on clothing racks in my garage right now. ;) Baby steps…

I simply cannot say enough great things about the Weight Watchers program! I have lost and gained…and lost and gained…multiple times in the past. From counting calories to cutting virtually all carbs, I’ve tried lots of methods and have been successful in the past. I tried cutting carbs again after having Caroline, but it just didn’t seem to work like it had when I was still in my twenties and hadn’t had any babies yet. After having Mags, I knew I wanted (and needed) to finally get rid of all the extra weight I’d been carrying for a few years. A month after giving birth, I made the decision to join Weight Watchers Online. I thought it might be easier to keep track of everything on my phone, rather than try to go to meetings each week. And because I’m my own toughest critic, I knew I wouldn’t have any problem keeping track of my weight and not cheating at weigh-ins.

Weight Watchers has taught me to make the best choices and to always be mindful of portions and what I’m putting into my body. There aren’t too many food restrictions, because it’s all about balance. If you want something “decadent”, that’s fine, but you just have to budget your points accordingly. Honestly, I don’t really indulge too often. I find that I just feel better when I eat healthily.

I have learned that I will always have to watch my eating habits to maintain a healthy weight. Obesity runs in my family. It’s not an excuse, just a fact. Diabetes and heart disease also run on both sides of my family. My mom and dad are both diabetic. I have chosen to look at weight loss and maintenance as a health issue, as well as a “fat/skinny” issue. (But it sure does feel great to wear those “skinny” clothes again!!)
