Caroline has been obsessed with monkeys (or “munks”, as she calls them) for about the past 3 months. So, I decided on the theme of her party back in May or June. I knew it had to involve monkeys, but in a cute/girly way. Also, since it’s summer time, I thought the luau theme would be pretty easy to pull off. Here are some of the highlights of her party and what went into planning it…
The invitation I designed and ordered from Vistaprint.com…
Cupcake toppers I designed, punched out and assembled. Not terribly difficult, but quite time-consuming. Very inexpensive, though. Too bad I completely forgot about putting them on the cupcakes!!! :(
I put one in a leftover cupcake, just to see what it SHOULD have looked like!
Little sidenote about the cupcakes and cake. I ordered 4 dozen cupcakes and a 6” chocolate cake about 2-3 weeks ago from my absolutely favorite bakery. The cupcakes were to be vanilla, strawberry and chocolate, with lime green, hot pink and chocolate icing. I even left a copy of the invitation for them to match the colors. When hubby went to pick them up yesterday morning, they had a 9” cake and NO CUPCAKES! Showed NO record of the order…even though I sat a table with a girl and went over everything IN DETAIL! When he got home, the icing was white, pale pink and chocolate…pretty disappointed about that. Then, when the party was almost over and we cut the cake…it was NOT chocolate, but strawberry! I love their strawberry cake, but was not pleased that it was wrong. We were only charged half-price, but I still think I’ll go in this week to talk to them. I’m just so upset that they messed up, when I’m always raving about how great they are. :( Fortunately, the birthday girl would never have noticed.
Take home favors…the best iced sugar cookies in the world!
Favors for the kiddos…
We got the same palm tree bounce-around we rented last year…a HUGE hit!
Caddy’s slide from Grammy and Nanny was a big hit, too!
Cake time!
Caddy and Joe…
Twins M & T…
I think you can tell that lots of fun was had by all! That being said, I’m pretty sure this is my last year to plan a party at home. Caddy has some great little pals, along with their wonderful parents, but I think our humble home is just too small. We are looking into a local gymnastics place that offers birthday packages. Looking for a little less stress in my life! ;)

I would definitely go back to the bakery and have a nice "talk" with them. Let them know too that you blog and could have gotten them some new clients had they not messed up LOL
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that when Caroline comes down the slide she sticks her tongue out to the side, too cute. You did an excellent job mommy!
It was a fun party! It's too bad FS doesn't have more places for birthdays for little ones - I forsee lots of birthday parties at the same places in the future! :) At least your cake was messed up on the inside - I know how you feel though about the outside of the cupcakes.

I still get upset when I see her first bday cake! Hope you do go talk to them - I didn't and I regret it!!!!
Great job with the party! (Although I did wonder where the toppers were!) :)
I loved her party!! I liked how your curtains seemed to match the colors of the party or at least blended nicely!! Good job Mamma! Happy Birthday to your sweet girl! They grow so fast! I'm planning Kate's 3rd...seems hard to believe!
