Playing Barbies...

Caroline got her first “real” Barbie for her 4th birthday. She already has several Disney Princess dolls that are built like Barbie, but never an actual doll that says “Barbie” on the box. The one that she got is called “Babysitter Barbie” and came with little girl doll. And a toilet. Guess she’s supposed to be working on potty training? Caroline has decided that hers is not a babysitter Barbie, but a mommy Barbie. And that we need to now go purchase a daddy Barbie at the “doll store”. Obviously, she doesn’t know about Ken yet. At least she’s insistent that Barbie has a husband/daddy to help raise the little girl doll!

Also, I’ve just got to share this little conversation we had while playing…
Caroline: Her daughter is sick, so her daddy has to stay home and take care of her.
Me: Oh, and doesn’t the daddy have to go to work?
Caroline: No. He stays home and washes laundry all day.
Me: Okay. What does Barbie do?
Caroline: She goes to high school.
Me: Ohhhhhhh…
Then she saves me from having to have another conversation with her by saying…
Caroline: Yeah, she’s the teacher!
I’m sure this is just the beginning of some interesting Barbie sessions!
