Dirty Jobs!

Where's this guy when you really need him? He would have been a perfect helper yesterday and this morning with Miss Caroline! Let's just say we had to have 2 baths yesterday, and really could have used another one this morning! The first "incident" involved a run-of-the-mill diaper change gone wrong...she decided that she needed to pee right in the middle of a messy change. Straight into the tub she went! Then, at Mommy's 6-week checkup (yes, while I was sitting under "the sheet", waiting for the doc) she decides it would be a good time to put that extra onesie in the diaper bag to good use! I'm SOOO glad all my mommy-friends gave me that golden piece of advice! I had to change her on the exam table (no side ledges), with a sheet tied around my waist, just hoping that the doc wouldn't walk in! He finally decided to show up when I was done changing her and rinsing the "soiled" onesie in the sink. He said something like "Gee, I recognize that smell"...how embarrassing! Then he offered to come back, to which I said something like "No, let's get this show on the road". I'd already waited 30 minutes in there, and Caroline was throwing a FIT the whole time. I literally had sweat rolling down my forehead! So, needless to say, we needed yet another bath last night. Fast forward to this morning...After her 5:30 feeding, the little sweetie was just finished rocking and drifting back to sleep in her crib, when I witnessed projectile vomit (sorry for the image) on the video monitor in our room. I raced in to find her laying there in a BIG ol' mess. Poor baby, she was so good and didn't even cry. Darren had to strip the crib and start a load of laundry. Girly ended up going back to sleep on me instead of in her bed.

Whew, it's been a messy 24 hours! Guess it's just a preview of things to come! I'd LOVE to find Mike Rowe's phone number and ask if he'd like to come help out! :-)

  1. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I know what you mean about all of the older crowd watching it...but how could you not if you loved it the first round!

Also, I LOVE this Dirty Jobs guy. he is HILARIOUS. Every time I'm watching that show my husbands forgets that he's already told me and reminds that the guy is an opera singer. How weird is that?

  2. Hey Jen, here's a tip. Of course, I didn't start this until Parker was in underwear, but trying to strip sheets and change new ones in the middle of the night while in a coma is a little hard. Depending on how many fitted or regular mattress pads you have, I usually lay a pad, then sheet, as many times (about 2-3) as I can until it wont fit around the mattress anymore, so when the top layer gets soiled, just rip it off and there you have a brand new one underneath and you won't skip a blink of sleep changing sheets. Somewhere, someone thought that up, and I started that about a year ago. Oh well! It's spontaneous, those middle of the night accidents!
