Can I just say how much "baby-proofing" sucks??? It's darned near impossible...and I'm the kinda mom who freaks out about every little slip, fall and tumble...so I definitely don't want the little one having any unnecessary obstacles!
So, I've been thinking about some new furniture options to eliminate some potential head bumps and boo-boos. We've already gotten rid of our sharp-cornered coffee table, and replaced it with a soft, cushion-y leather ottoman. But, now we're having issues with an end table and a buffet-style table in the entry way.
This is the end table...it is metal...and it has metal lattice-work...metal lattice-work that pinches tiny fingers that like to grab it! And it's not exactly the sturdiest piece of furniture...meaning it could probably be pulled over while a certain little girl pulls up on it!

This is the new and improved end table...solid wood and heavy! It shouldn't be going anywhere...and there are NO sharp corners!!!

This hideous monstrosity is in our entry way. It is horribly ugly and I hate it. I keep it covered with this crappy-looking green table cloth...which is the precise reason that this area of the house has been closed off to the baby girl. I can just see her pulling that table cloth and everything else on the table with it!

Ta-da! This is my awesome new "antique" (well, I think) dresser! I found it (along with the end table) at a local "antique mall"...or flea market, as I like to call it. I looked at a local furniture outlet store, and while they had some great furniture at great prices, they didn't have "it". I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for, but I knew I'd know it when I saw it! Some of the criteria for "it" was that it must be taller than Caddy's reach, have a surface for a lamp and pictures, and have storage of some kind (either drawers or doors). This dresser just popped out at me as soon as I saw it! It had a kind've ugly mirror attached, but that was easy to remove.

And the cherry on top? I got both pieces, together (with tax included) for less than $200!!! Only $42 for the end table and $125 for the dresser!!! That TOTALLY made my whole week! :)
