Side effects...

One of the lesser-known side effects of motherhood is "craftiness". As in Martha Stewart crafty. Suddenly, you have the ability (or affliction, depending on how you view it) of looking at most any baby- or child-related item and figuring out a way to make it yourself.

Ideally, this would be a way to save money...if you were mass producing the stuff. If you just want to make one or two of whatever it is, it will probably end up costing you an arm and a leg to buy the supplies, and then it will end up consuming any extra space you might have in your home. Oh, and it also consumes any extra time you may have lying around.

Here's a list of the crafty things I've taught myself to do/make since Caroline came along...
  • hairbows
  • grossgrain ribbon belts
  • blog design (okay, I actually make $ on this one!)
  • burp cloths
  • ribbon key chains
  • customized clipboards
  • custom card design (yes...just one more thing that I don't have enough time to do!)
and my latest craft...
  • Scrabble tile pendants

Now...if I could just find the time to do all of these things I WANT to do, along with all of the things I HAVE to do for work and here at home!!!

  1. I love those scrabble tiles. I have two on necklaces that a student's mother made me before I left. They are so cute!
