Caroline's preschool had their annual Christmas program yesterday and this girl has been GIDDY for weeks about it! The 3 and 4 year old classes sing a small selection of Christmas carols and fun songs, then join their guests (parents/family) for a little luncheon. It is SO special for them. I absolutely loved it!
Oh, and Caroline informed me the morning before the program that she was in need of a "beautiful dress" especially for the program. None of the dresses in her closet would do. I asked her if she was willing to tap into her piggy bank for the money to buy this "beautiful dress" and she was. So I surprised her by picking her up a little earlier than usual on Wednesday (we left Maggie at school for Daddy to pick up) and we hit the mall to search for the perfect "beautiful dress". She was immediately drawn in by the sequins, satin and organza in the Dillard's girls department. They were very "pageant"-like. I had to put my foot down. She did find a cute sparkly red sweater dress with black leggings, though. Totally age and occasion appropriate. Just to make sure we weren't missing anything, we ran down to Children's Place and Crazy 8. But she had that red sparkly dress in mind, so we ended up back at Dillard's. She was in LOVE! ;)
We even did a little dress rehearsal on hair styling for the big show. Girl loves her a sock bun!
The morning of the program...she was quite a little sourpuss.
"The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head..."
"The stars in the sky looked down where he lay..."
This was from Jingle Bells...
"GO tell it on the mountain..."
"I'm a little Santa, short and fat..."
That little cutie on the right told his mom and dad that Caroline was his girlfriend. She told me "noooo"...all embarrassed. Then she said she's not getting married because she wants to stay 4 years old forever and always be with me. :)
It cracked me up how these "big girls" just instinctively knew to throw their arms around each other for a picture. They look like teenagers!
These 2 share the same name! :)
With her Grammy and Pops...
I've complained a little lately about her "fake" smile, where she flares her nostils and looks all funny. I love these pictures because she is laughing and that smile is so genuine!
I love this of her with one of her teachers. She loves her so much!
*Note the "fake" smile...complete with glazed eyes and flared nostrils! ;)
She had an absolute BLAST at her program! We loved it! Only downside to the day...when I picked her up to find a huge hole in the knee of her leggings (and her skin, too!) and part of the ruffles on the dress pulled off. I guess that'll be an easy fix, but I sure am frustrated with my little tomboy who insists on dresses! ;)
