Idle Hands...

I love odd news! I try to check out Yahoo's "Odd News" section every day, and occasionally I come across an exceptionally good story. Here's the latest one that intrigued me...a man in Nigeria wants his son put in jail for "idleness", or as he puts it "refusing to engage in productive activities". How many of us would be in jail right now? How many children would actually be sitting in my classroom if parents could have them jailed for not doing anything productive? Can you imagine if this was legal in the U.S.?
I guess we can only dream... :-)

  2. Me too!! I have a student in my class that brings her computer to class and surfs the entire time. How do I know she surfs? Because when I walk to the back of the class room, she closes her computer screen so I can't see it. Today i asked her to close up the computer. I'm looking forward to that evaluation!
