Well, as I posted the other day, Darren and I headed to St. Louis (well, actually St. Charles...and actually Maryland Heights, too) for a few days for a seminar. It was okay, as far as work related seminars go. We also had a pretty good time on our own...away from Caroline. We were gone for 3 nights...the longest we've ever been away from her. She goes to spend the night at Grammy's almost every week, but only for one night. I'd never been away from her for more than 24 hours...and guess what...I survived! :) And had a great time! But I was SOOOOO glad to see her Saturday afternoon!
Here's a little evidence of my boredom on a 6-hour car ride...

Where would we be (literally!) without the trusty Garmin?

I think it's time to clean the console out...

I love the frankness of the Missouri Department of Transportation...

Just a few pics of the sites we saw...

Good Lord...I'm such a tourist...

I saved the best for last...the most INCREDIBLE meal I can remember!!!
This is Charlie Gitto's...for those of you who didn't already know!

It feels like the Godfather is going to walk in and shoot somebody in the back of the head! Very authentic! We had the good fortune of arriving early (5 pm) and listening to 2 old guys, one Republican and one Democrat, argue LOUDLY about politics...it was awesome! I really wanted to put in my own 2 cents, but was way too shy! :)
Delicious crabcakes...the serving of 2 was not enough!

Hands down...the BEST salad I've ever eaten! Perfectly balanced, tart Italian dressing with TONS of parmesan cheese, artichoke hearts, red onions...HEAVENLY!

And my all-time favorite Italian go-to dish...chicken parmesan. It was totally different than any other chicken parm I've ever eaten...kind've a sweet flavor in the breading...AMAZING!

Right now, as I look at this picture, I am desperately regretting the fact that I left those last 2 bites on the plate!

We had a great time on our first extended getaway! We are headed to Atlanta next month for another 3 days/nights...I can't wait to show you all about that trip, too!
