JLJ - CDM 3/13/99

Those are the letters and numbers that have been with me (and Darren) every day of last the 10 years, etched inside my wedding band...Well, except for the 4 months while I was pregnant and too fat to wear my ring!

I always thought you had to be old to be married for 10 years...

October 5, 1996...The night we met!
This was taken at an AKL frat party.

We met because of BEER...he knew where I could find one.
We talked on the steps of a front porch.
Then he asked for my number...I told him he could only have mine if I could have his.
He was impressed that I spelled his name correctly...and that I was bold (drunk) enough to ask for his number, too.
I still have that exact piece of paper with his name and number...I carry it in my wallet! *

Two of only a few photos of us together on our wedding day...we forgot the pic list for the photographer and got too busy trying to organize everyone else to remember to get a posed shot of just us together.

June 2006
I was tan and skinny...and didn't appreciate it...still thought I was fat! Ha!

October 2006
Our first year with Hogs football season tickets.
Yep, we're in the next-to-the-last row in the whole stadium!

July 2007
Gondola ride at Venetian in Las Vegas.

July 2008
What a difference a year makes...
Taken about 2 weeks before Caroline came.

November 2007
I'd say we have something pretty good to show for our 10 years...

Just last weekend at Bella Notte Black and White Ball...out on the town again...baby at Grammy's!

*This is the longest photo caption I've ever written!

Oh, and in case you're wondering...

I posted a poll a few months ago asking where we should go to celebrate our BIG 10th anniversary. I included "somewhere beachy", "somewhere historic", "a big city", etc.

Guess what we decided on......

Exotic, romantic............Northwest Arkansas! (sad, I know)
We're both taking a personal day, leaving Caroline with Grammy and Pops, and heading up I540 for a day of shopping, dinner at Ruth's Chris and a night at Embassy Suites...with a free breakfast! :)

  1. Happy anniversary! Our 10th is in 2011...we hope to go SOMEWHERE. I'm sure it won't be a big trip, but it sure would be nice to get away.

  8. What a great couple you two are! I think it's funny...in March of '99, I'd only known Eric for three months! But, he'd already bought me jewelry, so it was meant to be, right? I LOVE the wedding pics! Seriously, I didn't even recognize Darren, even though I knew it had to be him. You all are blessed and Caroline is the perfect accessory for a ten year celebration!

  9. Oh Jen, the night when we saw him sitting in the window at the top of the stairs. What memories! I'm so glad I've been around for most of it. I have a few pics I could post of some crazy new years days, but I won't! We're right behind you for 10 in May! I get a remodeled kitchen! Yeah! We'd be satisfied with going to a hotel in FS to spend the night. Ha! LR will be a nice getaway tomorrow!
